We are a coalition of lifelong musicians and performers who have spent years - for some of us, decades - serving our musical and cultural communities in the French Quarter, the Treme, and the City of New Orleans.
the FAMILY AFFAIR BRASS BAND (2022) is a multi-generational all-star squad, composed of full-time professional street musicians. Our elders have been playing street music in the French Quarters since the 1970's, and our youngest members include 4th and 5th generation New Orleans musicians.
We are a 100% independent, musician-run operation. No hidden corporate structure, no booking agents, and no automated systems - just give us a call! We truly spend most days performing our music on the streets, and we can guarantee we'll bring a heavy-hitting group to your event that knows exactly what your party needs.
We believe in treating all folks with respect, humanity, and empathy. We believe that we are all family on this planet, and that kindness goes a long way. We're here to help y'all celebrate, and we're open-minded to all kinds of having a good time.
You're gonna be talking with real New Orleans street artists, and more importantly, real human beings. We are dedicated to serving the music of New Orleans, and to bringing people together through song and dance.
While the FABB officially formed in 2022, the project has been preceded by years of collaboration between band members. Much of the group are family members who have been playing music together forever.
Our multi-generational lineup includes many incredible musicians who've spent time with some of New Orleans' most iconic groups, including the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the Lil' Rascals Brass Band, and the Rebirth Brass Band.
Our band members perform around the city everyday at New Orleans institutions like Cafe DuMonde, Jackson Square, and Frenchmen Street. If you've ever walked through the French Quarter, you've probably already danced with us.
Corporate events companies and entertainment production groups charge a stiff fee, deliver sub-par music, and their musicians still don't get paid enough. We are a musician-run cooperative and a grassroots community organization with deep ties to the history and legacy of New Orleans Second Line music.
